     Notes, News, Bits & Pieces
As of November 2008, most of the fallen from New York
State had been remembered and honored by a project
or activity.  The remainder of those names, as well as the
service members who have fallen since the beginning of
2009, are now listed on the website.

We will continue to diligently promote awareness of the
need to remember those fine men and women who made
the ultimate sacrifice.

It is continually amazing to read and know the scope and
variety of ways that are developed to honor our loved
ones.  Some as simple as making a donation to a favorite
charity or cause in the name of the service member. Some
as complex and time consuming as the “
Run For The Fallen”
that was organized  to honor each service member who had
been killed up to the time that it was done.
WHAT'S  HAPPENING?
Last Saturday, May 9, 2009, the mural was on display at
the Syracuse (NY) Chiefs Baseball game as part of Armed
Forces Celebration.
The management honored
Sgt. Christopher Simpson
(KIA 3.17.2008). In attendance was his mother, Kate
McLaughlin, his fiancee, Carol Fries, several siblings and
Fallen Stars spokesperson, Mimi Martin, as well as service
members from all branches of the military.
The game was played amid rain and wind. It was a cold
night that challenged even the hardiest fans.
At the present time, Ray Lenarcic is anxiously awaiting the
arrival of another mural. The committee commissioned the
development of one more 3 part mural. This one will be
like the first one except that there will be an American flag
behind the stars that will also include a picture of each of
the fallen. Ray and Kelly Brown continue get more calls than
can be satisfied with only one mural so another one was
necessary. We certainly hope that it is done soon!!

Well, the second mural is done!
May 26, 2009    Mohawk, NY

The second mural for the Fallen Stars Memorial was unveiled
at the American Legion by our spokesperson,
Mimi Martin. This mural will join the original traveling through-
out New York State.

This mural is designed with the American Flag in the back-
ground, a star for each of the fallen as well as a picture of
each one. This mural was also designed by Bob Critser.

The murals will be shown in Holley, Albion, Brockport, Perry,
Mount Morris, Canastota, Albany, Oriskany Falls, and at
Mohawk's Fisher Elementary School. A large binder with a
bio and photo of each service member represented
accompanies the murals.

The home of the murals remains the same, American Legion
Post 25, Mohawk, NY.
